About the Aloe Ferox Plant

Although there are 300 varieties of the Aloe, the Aloe Ferox species is indigenous to South Africa, growing exclusively in the area of Mossel Bay and Albertinia in the Eastern Cape. The plants are not fertilized or treated with pesticides or chemical additives and are therefore pure and organically grown. The leaves are harvested directly from the bottom of the plant annually, without damaging the growth tip of the plant.

The plant has been used for centuries by the local Khoisan people as well as exported overseas either in the form of bitters (reduced and boiled from the sap of the plant) for their laxative, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying and antiseptic qualities or as juice or gel formats (from the leaf) for use in a variety of creams, lotions and skincare products for their anti-ageing/anti-oxidant properties.

In addition to all the valued properties of the Aloe Ferox plant, it has another ingredient called Aloesin. This active is now highly sought after and offers unique benefits for skincare manufacturers in the form of a natural active for use in skin brightening, lightening and anti-ageing products. The Aloe Ferox Company has developed a patented extraction process to successfully extract Aloesin as well as convert Aloeresin A to Aloesin, in order to yield high quantities of this wonderful active ingredient, without any harm or damage to the wild Aloe Ferox plant.
